Get ready to put a spring in your step!  Sign up today for an eight week program designed to reinforce your desire to stay active and healthy!  Through the PA Department of Aging’s Healthy Steps in Motion (HSIM) Program, you will learn to build body strength, increase flexibility, and improve balance.  Take the first of many “Healthy Steps” to an active and independent future.

Among older adults, falls are the leading cause of injury, death, and hospital admission for trauma. Falls can take a serious toll on your quality of life and independence (stopfalls.org).  HSIM is an evidence-based fall prevention program with exercise focused strength training and balance at its heart.  The program will be taught by Certified Fitness Instructor and HSIM Workshop Leader Jean Tornetta.  It is designed for people of all fitness levels.  We especially recommend this series to beginner exercisers or those recovering from an injury or illness.  Each session starts with a warm-up, followed by strength and balance exercises and ends with a cool-down stretch.

Join us on Tuesdays at 10:00 from March 5*- April 23, 2019 (eight sessions) for this engaging program that has been proven to promote increased socialization and physical activity.  As an added bonus, by attending the program, you will help ensure that Generations continues to receive valuable funding for hosting important evidence-based programming such as this.  A donation of $2 per person, per class is suggested but not required for participation.  (Please place your anonymous contribution in the collection box in the back of the community room).

*Our session on March 5 will include exercise demonstrations and a complimentary continental breakfast, as well as required paperwork and physical skills screening completion. More information will be provided upon registration.
