The Great Courses: Medical Myths, Lies & Half Truths

Thursdays, 10:30AM (Begins September 8, 2022)

Generations Volunteer Dave Boorse has graciously offered the use of his “Great Courses” DVDs for our Participants. “The Great Courses” are taught by award-winning experts and professors from the most respected institutions in the world. Join us for a group viewing followed by a brief discussion (led by Dave). This fall we will offer the 12 week series, Medical Myths, Lies, and Half-Truths: What We Think We Know May Be Hurting Us, taught by Steven Novella, MD, Yale School of Medicine.

You can attend as many (or as few) lectures as you’d like. Space is limited. If you think you will be attending, please register for your preferred lectures at our front desk or call 215-723-5841. A $2 donation per person per class is appreciated.

Course description: In today's information age, when supposedly accurate medical advice and diagnoses can be found online with the click of a computer mouse, medical myths are all around us. Dr. Novella's 24 revealing lectures are an empowering learning experience that will give you evidence-based guidelines for good health, will enhance your ability to be better informed about common medical myths, and will strengthen your skills at assessing the scientific truth behind medical information and advice—whether you're having an important conversation with your doctor or taking a trip down the medicine aisle of your local pharmacy.
